Crispy Tofu with Sticky Soy Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup low sodium tamari (or soy sauce)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbs rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup organic brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Sambal Oelek (or red chili paste)*
  • 1 tsp garlic & onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch

Preparation

  1. Preheat a small sauce pan to medium heat

  2. In a small mixing bowl, create a cornstarch slur by mixing cornstarch about 2 tablespoons of water until is smooth and fully dissolved. Stir in the rest of the the ingredients

  3. Heat in sauce pan and whisk until sauce begins to thicken

  4. Turn off heat and mix in with a main dish as desired OR store in a mason jar or container for later use

  5. Sambal Oelek is a red chili paste found in most Asian cooking and restaurants. It is spicy, so adjust accordingly
