Pear and Peanut Chaat

Ingredients

  • 1 finely chopped pear
  • Some lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons boiled chickpeas
  • 2 tablespoons boiled kidney beans
  • 2 tablespoons boiled sweet corn
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • Some finely chopped fresh vegetables (about 1-1.5 tablespoons each: purple cabbage, carrot, cilantro, onion)
  • 1/2 finely chopped tomato
  • Some dry peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Some red chili powder to taste
  • Tamarind and jaggery chutney (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder

Preparation

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add 1 finely chopped pear.

  2. Squeeze some lime juice over it to prevent browning.

  3. Add 3 tablespoons of boiled chickpeas.

  4. Add 2 tablespoons of boiled kidney beans.

  5. Add 2 tablespoons of boiled sweet corn.

  6. Add 2 finely chopped green chilies.

  7. Add some finely chopped fresh vegetables (purple cabbage, carrot, cilantro, and onion).

  8. Add 1/2 finely chopped tomato.

  9. Fry the peanuts by heating 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan, adding the dry peanuts, salt to taste, some red chili powder, and frying until crispy.

  10. Add the fried peanuts to the bowl and mix well.

  11. Add salt to taste, 1 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder, some red chili powder to taste, and tamarind and jaggery chutney if desired, then mix well.

  12. Transfer the mixture to a serving plate, sprinkle some roasted cumin powder on top, and garnish with mint leaves.

Tips

  1. Adjust the quantity of boiled ingredients like chickpeas, kidney beans, and sweet corn based on personal preference.
