Crispy Rava Dosa with Spices

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • salt to taste
  • finely chopped onions (optional)
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies (adjust to taste)
  • finely chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • few fresh curry leaves (optional)
  • 4-5 cups water
  • oil

Preparation

  1. In a mixing bowl, take 1/2 cup semolina

  2. Add 1/2 cup rice flour

  3. Add 1/4 cup plain flour

  4. Mix well

  5. Add salt to taste

  6. Add finely chopped onions

  7. Add finely chopped green chilies

  8. Add finely chopped coriander leaves

  9. Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  10. Add a few curry leaves

  11. Mix well

  12. Add 4 to 5 cups water in parts, starting with 1 cup and mixing well to remove lumps, then add more water

  13. Let the batter rest for 15-20 minutes as semolina absorbs water and thickens

  14. Add another 1-2 cups water to achieve a very runny consistency

  15. Heat a pan until hot

  16. Pour the batter onto the pan and add a few drops of oil around the edges

  17. Cook until crispy

  18. Serve with coconut chutney and tomato chutney

Tips

  1. This recipe requires no advance preparation

  2. It uses minimal vessels for easy cleanup
