Spicy Gujarati Yogurt Dish
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander and cumin seeds powder
- 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds powder
- 2 garlic cloves and 1.5 teaspoons red chili powder, crushed
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon water
- 2 cups thick curd
- Some finely chopped coriander
Preparation
Heat up the pan and set it to medium flame
Add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Add a pinch of asafoetida powder
Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Add 1 teaspoon coriander and cumin seeds powder
Add 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds powder and mix it
Add the garlic and chili powder paste and mix on slow flame
Add salt to taste
Add 1/2 teaspoon water to avoid burning
Add 2 cups thick curd, turn off the stove quickly, and stir the mixture gently
Add some finely chopped coriander
Serve with Bajra roti or other parathas
Tips
You can also add onions or tomatoes as per your choice
To prepare thick curd, strain it through a sieve with a muslin cloth for half an hour
