Bbq Baked Seitan
Ingredients
- 1 cup vital wheat gluten
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup veggie broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp tahini or nut/seed butter of choice (peanut butter works well here too)
Preparation
Combine all dry ingredients
Add in the wet ingredients and give a gentle stir to combine
A dough should begin to form
With your hands gently knees into a dough ball (do not over kneed
This step should just take less than a minute to do)
Transfer dough to a lined baking sheet
Flatten and spread dough out until it is inch thick
Then place in a preheated oven at 350F for 25 minutes
Remove from oven and brush both sides with your favorite BBQ sauce
At this stage you can either grill or rebake your seitan
For equipment purposes I went with baking this again for another 10 mins
At the very end of baking to help char ends a little I broiled it on high for 2 minutes
Once removed from the oven
Allow to cook slightly before cutting it into strips as desired
