Minced Meat and Potato Casserole
Ingredients
- 5-6 medium potatoes
- 450-500g ground meat
- 1 onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 2 charleston peppers
- 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Black pepper, red pepper flakes, red chili powder, dried thyme, salt (to taste)
- About 300 ml water (1.5-2 cups)
- A small amount of grated cheese
Preparation
Peel the potatoes and slice them into thin rings, then soak them in cold water and let them sit.
Cook the ground meat in a little vegetable oil and butter.
Add the finely chopped onion and peppers, and continue sautéing.
Add the spices, salt, and tomato paste, and keep sautéing.
Add the water and cook until the water is slightly reduced.
Drain the water from the potatoes that were set aside.
In the baking dish, layer potatoes and meat mixture alternately, ending with a layer of potatoes.
Place a few pieces of butter on top.
Cover the dish with dampened and squeezed baking paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until the potatoes are very soft.
Remove the paper, sprinkle grated cheese on top, and continue baking until the cheese is golden.
