Russian Beef Azu Stew

Ingredients

  • 700 grams beef
  • 5-6 pickled cucumbers
  • 2 onions
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon flour or starch
  • 250 milliliters water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Optional

  • Hot sauce or adjika to taste

Preparation

  1. Cut the beef into small sticks, similar to batons, and slice the cucumbers and onions into half-moons.

  2. In vegetable oil, fry the beef until all liquid evaporates and it begins to brown slightly.

  3. Add the onion and fry until it becomes translucent.

  4. Then add the cucumbers, garlic, tomato paste, salt and black pepper to taste, and the flour dissolved in 250 milliliters of water. Stir thoroughly and stew until the meat is tender.

Tips

  1. Optionally, add hot sauce or adjika for extra spice.

  2. Serve with mashed potatoes for a delicious meal.
