Classic Walnut Baklava Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 packet phyllo dough
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 4 cups finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups syrup

Preparation

  1. Set the oven rack and preheat the oven to 180°C. Prepare a 13x9 inch rectangular pan.

  2. Place the phyllo dough on a table and trim it to fit the pan using a knife or pizza cutter.

  3. In a bowl, mix the walnuts and cinnamon.

  4. Layer a few sheets of phyllo dough in the pan and brush them with melted butter.

  5. Sprinkle some of the walnut mixture over the phyllo, add more sheets, brush with butter, and repeat the layers.

  6. For the top layer, cut the baklava into desired shapes and brush with butter.

  7. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown.

  8. Heat the syrup and pour it over the hot baklava immediately after removing it from the oven.

  9. Let it cool completely before serving.
