Halloween M&m Pumpkin Treats

Ingredients

  • 220g (5 cups) white mini marshmallows
  • 150g (5 1/2 cups) rice pops
  • 45g (3 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 5-10 drops orange food colouring
  • M&M’s of your choice (set aside 10 brown and 10 green for decoration)
  • 2 pieces liquorice

Preparation

  1. Put a pan of water on to boil.

  2. Place a large heatproof bowl over the pan of boiling water, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.

  3. Put the butter and marshmallows in the bowl and heat until they are fully melted together.

  4. Add the orange food colouring and mix well, adding a little at a time until the desired color is achieved.

  5. Remove the bowl from the heat and add the rice pops. Using a spatula, mix until completely combined.

  6. Dip your hands into water to prevent sticking. Form a flat ball with a handful of the mixture, add 3-5 M&M’s on top, and shape into a ball around them. Press firmly and flatten slightly to resemble a pumpkin, making an indentation on top.

  7. Repeat the process with the liquorice for the trick versions.

  8. Insert a brown M&M into the indentation to represent the pumpkin stalk and place a green M&M next to it for the leaf.

  9. Place them in the fridge to set.

Tips

  1. Peanut M&Ms work particularly well for the stalk.
