Baklava Fingers with Almonds
Ingredients
Filling
- 1 cup cream cheese, soft
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground almonds
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
- 1 teaspoon rose water
Glue mixture
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1-2 tablespoons water
Dough
- 1 packet phyllo dough
For frying
- corn oil
For garnishing
- powdered sugar
Preparation
In a medium bowl, place the cream cheese, sugar, almonds, cinnamon, cardamom, and rose water, mix with a fork until smooth.
For the glue mixture: in a bowl, place the flour, add water gradually to get a liquid dough and set aside.
To shape the baklava: place a sheet of dough, fold it into a rectangle, using a wide knife spread a little filling on the sheet, fold the sides to the center, roll it into a cylinder, brush the end with a little glue mixture and press to stick well.
Heat oil in a deep skillet, fry the baklava fingers until light golden brown, transfer to absorbent paper to remove excess oil and let it cool slightly.
Sprinkle with sugar and serve.
