Vegan Tofu Steak with Chips and Brown Butter
Ingredients
- 1 block tofu
- 2 medium potatoes (400g)
- 1.5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Optional: pinch of garlic powder
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
Vegan brown butter
- 3 tablespoons vegan butter
- 1/2 teaspoon tahini
To serve
- Salt
- Chopped coriander or parsley
- Cracked black pepper
Preparation
Drain and press the tofu, then cut it into 4 steaks.
Cut the potatoes into 1/2 cm thick fries using a mandolin or knife.
Toss the fries with olive oil, smoked paprika, and optional garlic powder and nutritional yeast.
Air-fry the fries until golden and crispy.
Cook the tofu steaks in a skillet or oven until crispy on the outside and tender inside.
Melt the vegan butter in a pan, stir in tahini, and cook until browned and nutty.
Serve the tofu steaks and chips drizzled with the brown butter sauce, seasoned with salt, pepper, and chopped herbs.
