Mini Basbousa with Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fine semolina
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon qaimar
  • 3 tablespoons kashta cheese
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla

For serving

  • Syrup (sugar syrup)

For decoration

  • Almond slices

Preparation

  1. Prepare a mini cupcake tray by lining the cups with decorative paper liners.

  2. Place the oven rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 180°C.

  3. In a mixer bowl, combine semolina, baking powder, sugar, qaimar, kashta cheese, oil, egg, and vanilla, then mix on medium speed for 3 minutes until the basbousa mixture forms.

  4. Distribute the mixture into the lined cups, filling them two-thirds full, and add almond slices on top.

  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. Remove from the oven, immediately pour the syrup over the basbousa, allow it to cool completely, and then serve.
