Easy Instant Pot Dal with Tomatoes and Spices

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chana dal (can also use red lentils, yellow split peas,etc)
  • 1 can fire roasted tomatoes
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot.

  2. Close the lid and set to seal.

  3. Set manual pressure to high for 16 minutes.

  4. Allow for natural pressure release before serving.

  5. This dal is great served with sweet potato or rice for a complete meal.
