Super Crispy Tofu Nuggets

Ingredients

  • 400g smoked tofu (or plain)
  • 80g flour
  • 100 ml water
  • 120g unsweetened cornflakes
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 tsp brown sugar
  • Rapeseed oil for frying

Preparation

  1. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel to press out the liquid, place a heavy pan or bowl on top, and set aside for half an hour.

  2. Cut the tofu block into slices and then into nuggets with a knife.

  3. Prepare two bowls: in one, combine flour, sea salt, nutritional yeast, water, optional brown sugar, and garlic powder; in the other, finely crumble the cornflakes.

  4. Dip each tofu nugget first in the batter and then coat with cornflakes.

  5. Fry the coated nuggets in rapeseed oil for 3-4 minutes, then remove and drain on kitchen paper.

  6. Serve with a dip of your choice and enjoy.

Serving suggestions

  1. Try with guacamole, pea dip, ketchup, curry dip, or garlic sauce.
