Barbecue Chickpeas Served with Rice and Avocado
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic puree
- 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cider vinegar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp water to thin it out
- a little coconut sugar (optional, to taste)
- 1 can of chickpeas, rinsed and dried
Preparation
Place chickpeas in air fryer for 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius, checking and tossing them to ensure even cooking on all sides.
For the sauce, combine all sauce ingredients and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning; you might not need the coconut sugar.
Once chickpeas are ready (slightly crunchy outside and soft inside), warm a little sauce over low heat and toss the chickpeas in it to coat.
Serve with your favorite sides such as rice, avocado, and greens.
