Marinated Tempeh with Garlic and Soy Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of tempeh (TJ’s only $1.99)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce, tamari or liquid aminos
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp garlic power
  • 1 tsp cayenne powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. You will need: 1 large pan, small mixing bowl

  2. Mince garlic and cut tempeh into two inch pieces. I typically cut them into small rectangles but sometimes try triangular shaped.

  3. Whisk together all ingredients in a small mixing bowl and marinade tempeh for as long as you can. I recommend marinating for at least 30 minutes.

  4. Turn pan on medium heat and add tempeh along with 1/4 cup of the marinade. Continue to add splashes of the marinade as it dries up.

  5. Flip tempeh pieces after about 5-7 minutes or until it’s golden brown.

  6. Add tempeh to tacos, salads, soups or Buddha bowls!
