Mince and Onion Pie with Mash and Gravy

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 90g plain flour
  • Pinch of sea salt and white pepper
  • 10g trex
  • 15g Lurpak butter
  • A little cold water

Filling

  • 1 brown onion
  • Rapeseed oil
  • 1/3 bag Morrisons meat free mince
  • Water
  • Bisto best beef flavour gravy
  • A few onion crispies
  • A little black and white pepper

Mash

  • Asda belle potatoes

Additional

  • Egg
  • Jus-rol puff pastry

Preparation

  1. Rub the trex and butter into the flour with salt and pepper to make crumbs.

  2. Add cold water gradually to form a dough, do not overwork it.

  3. Wrap the dough and refrigerate until needed.

  4. Finely chop the brown onion and fry in rapeseed oil until soft and browned.

  5. Add the meat-free mince to the pan with enough water to cover, then stir in Bisto gravy and seasonings, and allow to cool.

  6. Grease two pie tins and line them with the pastry dough.

  7. Brush the pastry with beaten egg.

  8. Fill the pastry with the cooled mince mixture.

  9. Top with puff pastry, crimp the edges, brush with beaten egg, and poke a hole in the top.

  10. Bake in the oven until golden.

  11. Dice the potatoes, boil until soft, mash them, and season to taste.

  12. Serve the pie with the mash and additional gravy.
