Halloween Skull Pasty with Veggie Sides

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry (store-bought, e.g., Jus Rol brand)
  • No added sugar tomato ketchup (e.g., Heinz brand)
  • Plant-based steak (e.g., Meatless Farm brand)
  • Water
  • Bisto best onion gravy
  • Half a beefless oxo cube
  • Powdered mushroom
  • Onion crispies
  • Beaten egg (for brushing)

Side vegetables

  • Tricolour carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Cubed potatoes

Preparation

  1. Cut up the plant-based steak and pan fry until browned

  2. Mix the fried steak with water, Bisto best onion gravy, half a beefless oxo cube, powdered mushroom, and onion crispies to create the filling

  3. Force puff pastry into a skull mould

  4. Add a squirt of no added sugar tomato ketchup to the mould

  5. Spoon the filling into the pastry, leaving a rim uncovered

  6. Brush the rim with beaten egg

  7. Top with more puff pastry and seal the edges

  8. Bake in the oven at 190°C for 25 minutes

  9. Prepare the side vegetables by steaming or boiling until tender

  10. Serve the baked pasty with the cooked vegetables
