Pie Sandwich with Homemade Pastry

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 45g homepride plain flour
  • Salt and white pepper
  • 10g trex
  • 5g Lurpak butter
  • Cold water (about a tablespoon, enough to combine)

Filling

  • Moving Mountains Foods plant-based beef pieces
  • A little water
  • Oxo meat-free beef flavour stock cube
  • Bisto best onion gravy
  • Mushroom powder
  • Onion salt
  • Black pepper

Assembly

  • Jus Rol puff pastry
  • Warburtons UK sliced sandwich roll
  • Tesco Food butterpak spreadable
  • Heinz UK no added sugar tomato ketchup
  • Beaten egg (for brushing)

Preparation

  1. Rub the fats into the flour to make a crumb

  2. Add cold water and combine to form a dough

  3. Refrigerate the dough for half an hour

  4. Roll out the dough and line a pie tin

  5. Pan fry the plant-based beef pieces

  6. Add a little water, oxo meat-free beef flavour stock cube, bisto best onion gravy, mushroom powder, onion salt, and black pepper to the filling and allow to cool

  7. Fill the pastry base with the cooled filling

  8. Top with jus rol puff pastry, brush with beaten egg

  9. Bake for 30 minutes at 190°C

  10. Spread butterpak on the warburtons uk sliced sandwich roll

  11. Assemble the pie into the sandwich roll and add heinz uk no added sugar tomato ketchup

Notes

  1. This sandwich is a favorite but should not be eaten every day due to potential health consequences
