Moong Dal Vadi Sabzi
Ingredients
- 1 cup soaked moong dal
- Small ginger knob
- Green chillies to taste
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 1 onion
- Red chilli powder to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Tomato puree from 4 medium tomatoes
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 cup water
Garnish
- Chopped coriander leaves
Preparation
Blend soaked moong dal with ginger and green chillies into a smooth batter and beat for aeration.
Steam small portions of the batter for 10 minutes.
Heat oil, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, onions, and salt until golden brown.
Stir in the spices and tomato puree and cook until fragrant.
Add green peas, water, and gently fold in the steamed vadis. Allow to simmer.
Finish with fresh coriander.
Serving suggestions
Serve with warm roti for a complete meal.
