Spiced Chickpea Avocado Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 large avocado
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon mild chili powder
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Lime (for mashing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/360°F

  2. Rinse and pat dry the chickpeas

  3. Mash the avocado with lime juice, salt, and pepper

  4. Roast the chickpeas in olive oil at 180°C/360°F for 20 minutes until crunchy.

  5. Remove chickpeas from oven, mix with spices, and return to oven for a few more minutes to absorb flavors.

  6. Toast bread slices

  7. Serve the spiced chickpeas on top of the toast with mashed avocado and a squeeze of lime.
