Spicy Cheddar Cheese Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Attach the metal blade to a food processor and place the cheese, butter, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, mustard seeds, hot sauce, and red pepper powder in it. Pulse on intermittent speed until the ingredients are mixed.
Add the flour and pulse on intermittent speed until a crumbly dough forms. Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead it a few times until it holds together. Shape the dough into a cylinder and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Position the oven rack in the middle and preheat the oven to 180°C. Prepare rimmed baking sheets by sprinkling salt on them.
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and unwrap it. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 1/2 cm thick disks. Place the disks on the prepared baking sheets, leaving 1 inch between each.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.
