Indonesian Rujak Fruit Salad

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 1 handful fried peanuts
  • 1 handful fried cashews (part to grind, part for topping)
  • Bird's eye chilies to taste
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind water
  • 1 handful palm sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Fruits

  • Assorted fresh fruits (e.g., apples, water apples, etc.)

Preparation

  1. Coarsely grind the fried peanuts, the portion of fried cashews for grinding, bird's eye chilies, and salt.

  2. Add the palm sugar and tamarind water.

  3. Add water and mix well until combined.

  4. Sprinkle the remaining fried cashews on top.

  5. Cut the assorted fruits into pieces and combine with the sauce.

Tips

  1. To prevent cut fruits like water apples and apples from browning quickly, prepare a bowl of water with 1 teaspoon salt and soak the fruits for one minute.
