Fish with Turmeric Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 kg fish
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup corn oil
- 6 cloves crushed garlic
- 2 tablespoons crushed ginger
- 1 large chopped onion
- 4 red and green peppers
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Flour (for coating)
- Lemon juice
- About 1 cup water
Preparation
In a bowl, place the turmeric, paprika, salt, cumin, and mix to combine the spices
Cut the fish to the desired size and sprinkle some of the spices on it
In a skillet, heat the oil well
In a plate, put some flour, then coat the fish pieces lightly in the flour and place them directly into the hot oil without leaving the fish in the flour for a long time
Fry the fish until the bottom is golden brown, then flip it to the other side until golden and remove to a side plate
In the same skillet, add the onion, garlic, cumin seeds, bay leaves, and pepper quarters, stir to sauté well and develop good flavor, then add the remaining fine spices and sauté them with the onion mixture until well toasted and flavorful
Add lemon juice, yogurt, and about a cup of water, stir to combine, and bring to a boil
Return the fish to the sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes to complete cooking, then place on a serving dish and sprinkle with chopped cilantro
