Shawarma Salad with Lemon Tahini Sauce
Ingredients
- 250 grams thinly sliced meat
Lemon sauce
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons mustard paste
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Tahini sauce
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- 1 tablespoon yogurt
- 2 tablespoons water
Salad
- 4 cups chopped lettuce
- 1 medium cucumber, peeled and chopped
- 1 large tomato, chopped
Serving
- Toasted Arabic bread
Preparation
In a deep bowl, place the meat slices.
For the lemon sauce, in a deep bowl, combine lemon juice, olive oil, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix with a whisk until well blended. Spread half of the sauce over the meat slices and reserve the remaining sauce for the salad.
Using a wooden spoon, mix the meat with the sauce. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
Heat a wide skillet over medium heat until hot, then add the meat with its marinade. Stir with a wooden spoon until the meat is dry and fully cooked. Allow the shawarma to cool completely.
For the tahini sauce, add tahini, yogurt, and water to the reserved lemon sauce. Mix with a whisk until smooth.
For the salad, in a wide serving bowl, place the lettuce, cucumber, and tomato. Add the cooled shawarma and spread the tahini sauce over it. Garnish with toasted Arabic bread and serve.
