Traditional Turkish Glass Cookies
Ingredients
- 125 grams butter or margarine, at room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- slightly less than 1 cup starch
- 1 egg
- 1 packet vanilla
- 2.5 cups flour, add gradually
For the centers
- small colored sugars
Preparation
All ingredients are placed in a large bowl and kneaded well.
The dough is rolled out between two sheets of parchment paper.
Shapes are cut from the dough using a glass or desired cutter.
The center of the shaped part is cut out with a smaller version of the same shape, such as a bottle cap.
The dough with hollow centers is placed on a baking sheet.
Bake in a 180-degree oven for 10 minutes, checking carefully.
After baking, add sugars to the hollow centers.
Put back in the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
After cooling, it is ready to serve.
