Brazilian Cornbread with Guava Paste

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 egg yolk, for brushing
  • guava paste, cut into small cubes

Preparation

  1. Mix the dry ingredients with the butter and egg until a crumbly mixture forms

  2. Add the milk to get the right consistency

  3. Shape the cornbreads

  4. Brush with the egg yolk

  5. Place the guava cubes on top

  6. Bake in a greased and floured pan in a preheated oven for 30 minutes
