Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon starch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Preparation
In a bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then set aside.
In the mixer bowl, place the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, attach the beater, and mix on medium speed until smooth.
Add the egg and vanilla, and continue mixing until the egg is fully incorporated and the mixture is well combined.
Add the flour mixture and mix until a soft dough forms, but do not overmix, then add two-thirds of the chocolate chips.
Prepare a large plate, divide the dough into 16 balls, shape them roughly into balls without making them smooth, and place them on the plate in a single layer.
Cover the dough balls with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Set the oven rack, preheat the oven to 160°C, and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
Place the cookie dough on the baking sheets, leaving 1 inch of space between each, and let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes.
Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top of the cookies and press lightly with your finger to adhere, but do not press too hard.
Bake the cookies for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove the sheets from the oven, let the cookies cool in the pans for a few minutes, and transfer them to a rack to cool completely.
