Malaysian Village Steamed Cake
Ingredients
- 1 kg wheat flour
- 1 packet Mauripan
- 6 cups water
- 2 cups brown sugar
- Pandan leaves
- Cooking oil for greasing
Preparation
Cook brown sugar and pandan leaves with 2 cups of water until it boils, then remove from heat and let cool.
In a large bowl, mix wheat flour and Mauripan until well combined.
Gradually add the cooled sugar mixture and the remaining plain water to the flour mixture, stirring until smooth and well combined.
Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment for 2 hours or until it rises.
Grease a steaming pan with cooking oil.
Pour the batter into the greased pan.
Steam for 1 hour or until cooked.
Notes
The total 6 cups of water include the water used for the sugar syrup and additional plain water.
Sugar amount can be adjusted for desired sweetness.
