Poppy Seed Filled Pastry Buns
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 2 cups lukewarm milk
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 2.5 teaspoons salt
- Approximately 7 cups flour
Filling
- 250 grams poppy seed paste
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 150 grams melted butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (add gradually to adjust consistency)
Topping
- 2 egg yolks
Preparation
Mix all dough ingredients except flour in a bowl
Gradually add flour to form a soft, slightly sticky dough and let it rise covered for 45 minutes
For the filling, mix melted butter, powdered sugar, and poppy seed paste, then add oil gradually to adjust consistency
Divide the risen dough into four equal parts
Roll out each part on a lightly floured surface, not too thin, and set aside
Spread filling on one dough layer, cover with another dough, spread more filling, and stack all layers similarly
Cut the stacked dough in half, then divide into four, and cut into thin long strips
Twist each strip by turning the ends in different directions and roll into a rose shape
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet
Prepare all pieces similarly, arrange on the tray, and brush with egg yolk
Bake at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown
Tips
Before cutting the stacked dough, stretch and thin it from the edges to prevent it from becoming too thick when baked
