Turkish Simit Bread Rings

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4.5 cups flour

Dipping mixture

  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1/2 cup water

Coating

  • sesame seeds

Preparation

  1. Mix all dough ingredients to form a dough and let it rise for 1 hour.

  2. Prepare the dipping mixture by combining golden syrup and water.

  3. Shape the dough into rings and briefly dip them in the dipping mixture.

  4. Then dip the rings in sesame seeds.

  5. Let them rest for 40 minutes.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 6 minutes.
