Honey Bbq Tofu Bowl with Mango Dressing

Ingredients

Mango dressing

  • 1 ripe mango, diced
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • salt to taste

Honey bbq tofu

  • 1 block (450g) firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup or maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp oil

Preparation

  1. Blend the mango dressing ingredients until smooth and add salt to taste.

  2. Cut tofu into bite-size triangle pieces.

  3. Coat tofu with cornstarch.

  4. Fry tofu in hot oil until lightly crispy on all sides and set aside.

  5. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.

  6. Add agave syrup and BBQ sauce and stir until reduced to a sticky consistency with bubbles.

  7. Mix in the crispy tofu pieces until they are all coated.

  8. Turn the burner to high heat and move the tofu around quickly to char, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.

Tips

  1. Add more sauce at the end if you want it extra saucy.
