Homemade Cherry Syrup for Pancakes and Cakes
Ingredients
- 3 kg washed and pitted cherries
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Preparation
Add cherries and half a cup of sugar to a large pot. They will create juice as they heat.
Slowly bring cherries to a boil and add remaining sugar, 1 teaspoon of lemon zest, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
Boil for 30-40 minutes to slightly thicken.
Put into sterilized jars with lids and let cool.
This is a runny jam with large chunks of cherries.
