Homemade Turkish Rice Pudding

Ingredients

  • Half a tea glass rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 liter milk
  • 2 tablespoons starch
  • Sugar, one cup minus a finger (approximately 175 ml)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 packet vanilla

Preparation

  1. Wash the rice in a sieve.

  2. Place the washed rice in a pot and boil it with 2 cups of water.

  3. After the rice is boiled, add the milk to the pot, bring to a boil, then cook for 10 minutes on medium heat.

  4. Add the sugar and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.

  5. In a separate bowl, mix the starch with 1 tea glass of water until well combined.

  6. While stirring the boiling pudding continuously, add the starch mixture.

  7. Add the vanilla and a pinch of salt, then boil for 1 more minute and pour into serving bowls.

  8. Let it cool for 15 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 5 hours before serving.

Notes

  1. Water glass measures 200 ml, tea glass measures 125 ml.
