Turkish Meat and Potato Stew
Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 600 grams diced meat
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 medium potatoes
- 1 carrot
- 1 onion
- 2 green chili peppers
- 1 tomato
- 1-2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon pepper paste
- 400 ml hot water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
Preparation
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot and add the meat, then fry it. Cover and cook on medium heat until the meat releases and absorbs its juices, about 50 minutes.
Meanwhile, dice the potatoes and carrots, toss with oil, and fry in the oven.
Once the meat is soft, add finely chopped onion, minced garlic, and butter, and sauté.
Then add the chopped green peppers and continue sautéing.
Add the peeled and chopped tomato, tomato paste, pepper paste, salt, and red pepper powder. Sauté briefly, then add the hot water. Cover and cook on medium heat for 20-25 minutes.
Finally, add the fried potatoes and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
Serving suggestions
Serve with rice and yogurt if desired.
