Easy Turkish Chicken Stew

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken thighs (or 6 drumsticks)
  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1.5-2 liters hot water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or 5-6 peppercorns)

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Juice of half a lemon

Topping

  • A handful of chopped parsley

Preparation

  1. First, clean the chicken and remove the skins.

  2. Place the chicken in a pot and boil for 15 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, peel and chop the vegetables to the desired size.

  4. In a separate pot, add vegetable oil and butter, melt them, then add carrots, onion, and garlic, and sauté briefly.

  5. Add the boiled chicken, stir well, pour in hot water, and let it cook for 15-20 minutes.

  6. Then add salt and pepper, add the potatoes, and continue boiling for a bit longer.

  7. For the sauce, mix flour and lemon juice, add a few spoonfuls of the dish's liquid, whisk to avoid lumps, and slowly stir it into the dish.

  8. When the dish has thickened and the vegetables are cooked, turn off the heat.

Serving suggestions

  1. Serve with chopped parsley and lemon on the side. Enjoy your meal.
