Oatmeal with Berry Jam and Fresh Banana
Ingredients
Oatmeal
- 1/3 cup of rolled oats
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Berry jam
- 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1/2 tsp sweetener (I used @soomfoods Silan Date Syrup)
Preparation
Optional: To make oats creamy, feel free to either use quick oats or process the oats yourself in a food processor.
In a sauce pan add your oats, banana, cinnamon, salt, flax seeds and milk.
Bring to a simmer on low to medium heat and allow to heat through and thicken for 3 minutes.
Remove from stove.
In a microwave safe dish, combine chia seeds, frozen mixed berries and sweetener.
Place in microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Once cooked through, stir and allow to sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
You can do this step while you are waiting for your oats to cook or before cooking your oats.
