Oatmeal with Berry Jam and Fresh Banana

Ingredients

Oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup of rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Berry jam

  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sweetener (I used @soomfoods Silan Date Syrup)

Preparation

  1. Optional: To make oats creamy, feel free to either use quick oats or process the oats yourself in a food processor.

  2. In a sauce pan add your oats, banana, cinnamon, salt, flax seeds and milk.

  3. Bring to a simmer on low to medium heat and allow to heat through and thicken for 3 minutes.

  4. Remove from stove.

  5. In a microwave safe dish, combine chia seeds, frozen mixed berries and sweetener.

  6. Place in microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

  7. Once cooked through, stir and allow to sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

  8. You can do this step while you are waiting for your oats to cook or before cooking your oats.
