Healthy Oatmeal Bowl with Berry Jam

Ingredients

Oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup of quick Steel Cut oats
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Berry jam

  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sweetener (optional)

Preparation

  1. To make oats creamy, optionally use quick oats or process them in a food processor.

  2. In a saucepan, add oats, banana, cinnamon, salt, flax seeds, and milk.

  3. Bring to a simmer on low to medium heat and heat for 3 minutes until thickened.

  4. Remove from stove.

  5. For the berry jam, in a microwave-safe dish, combine chia seeds, frozen mixed berries, and sweetener.

  6. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

  7. Stir, mash, and allow to sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

  8. You can prepare the jam while the oats are cooking to save time.
