Soft Turkish Mother's Cookies
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 0.5 cup yogurt
- 150 grams butter (melted and cooled)
- zest of 1 orange
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 level teaspoon baking soda
- 5 cups flour
Topping
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon water
- sugar
Preparation
Beat the eggs and sugar thoroughly with a mixer.
Gradually add the butter while continuing to beat.
In a separate deep bowl, mix yogurt, baking soda, and baking powder.
Add to the egg mixture.
Add the orange zest and mix with a whisk.
Finally, add the flour and knead.
The dough should be sticky.
Dip your hands lightly in oil and shape by rolling.
For the top, mix egg yolk with water and brush on the cookies.
Sprinkle sugar in the centers and make cuts with a knife.
Bake in a preheated 180-degree oven until lightly browned.
Tips
Ensure the dough is sticky to the hands for softness, otherwise it will be hard.
