Turkish Revani Semolina Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • Zest of 1 large orange

Syrup

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3.5 cups water

Orange juice

  • 1 cup orange juice

Preparation

  1. First, boil the syrup for 5 minutes on medium heat and let it cool.

  2. Beat eggs and sugar with a mixer thoroughly.

  3. Add yogurt and vegetable oil and mix.

  4. Add flour, semolina, baking powder, and orange zest and mix.

  5. Pour the mixture into a greased large square baking dish and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 30-35 minutes.

  6. After removing from the oven, wait 5 minutes, poke holes with a toothpick, and pour orange juice over it evenly.

  7. After 10 minutes, slice the cake and pour the lukewarm syrup over it.

  8. Allow it to rest for 2-3 hours before serving.
