Easy Baklava Without Rolling Pin
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 100 ml vegetable oil
- 50 ml melted butter or margarine
- 200 ml yogurt
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 packet baking powder
- 900 ml flour
For rolling
- 300 g wheat or corn starch
For syrup
- 5 cups sugar
- 5 cups water
- Juice of half a lemon
Preparation
Mix all dough ingredients to form a smooth dough and knead well.
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and let it rest if needed.
Roll out each dough portion thinly using the starch for dusting.
Layer the thin sheets in a baking tray.
Preheat oven to 160-170°C and bake for 45 to 60 minutes until golden and fully cooked.
Prepare the syrup by boiling sugar, water, and lemon juice until thick, then cool it completely.
Pour the cold syrup over the hot baked baklava.
Tips
Ensure the syrup is thick and well-boiled for best results.
Always use cold syrup on the baklava to achieve the right texture.
Bake slowly to make sure all layers are thoroughly cooked and not doughy inside.
