Flavorful Bbq Tofu with Vegetables and Noodles

Ingredients

  • 2/3 package extra firm organic tofu, drained and pressed well to remove water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1.5 cups steamed broccoli florets
  • 1 cup edamame
  • 1 cup cooked noodles

Garnish

  • Cilantro
  • Sauteed mushrooms
  • Sesame seeds
  • Scallions
  • Red chili flakes

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp gochujang sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1.5 tbsp agave or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce

Preparation

  1. Cut tofu into thin pieces

  2. Add oil to a large pan and place tofu so the pieces are not overlapping; you may need to do this in 2 batches

  3. Cook until lightly browned (about 5 minutes depending on thickness) then flip and cook another 3 minutes

  4. Meanwhile, whisk together sauce in a bowl

  5. When tofu is cooked, add sauce and toss to coat

  6. Serve with vegetables and noodles

Notes

  1. The sauce really permeates the tofu and gets a bit caramelized

  2. You can find gochujang sauce online or in most grocery stores; it is tangy and flavorful
