Kefta-Stuffed Puff Pastry Appetizers
Ingredients
- 1 packet puff pastry squares
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 tablespoons Romano or Parmesan cheese
Filling
- 500 grams ready-made kefta
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
Shaping items
- Small wooden sticks
Preparation
Remove the puff pastry packet from the freezer and let it thaw for a few minutes, then separate the sheets and place them in a shallow tray to fully thaw
Preheat the oven to 200°C and prepare shallow baking trays
Using a pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry sheets into 1 or 2-inch squares
In a small bowl, mix the egg and milk together
Using a small brush, brush the squares with a little of the egg and milk mixture
Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on the squares
Using a wide knife, transfer the pastry squares to the baking trays, leaving one inch between pieces
Bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown and let it cool completely
Shape the kefta into small balls
In a wide skillet, add oil and heat over medium heat
Add kefta balls to the skillet, wait a few seconds, and stir gently until fully cooked and golden brown
To assemble, use a small wide knife to open a small part of the baked puff pastry squares, add a little pizza sauce inside, place a kefta ball inside, and secure with a small wooden or plastic stick, then serve immediately
