Spicy Indonesian Guava Salad

Ingredients

  • 5 guavas
  • 8 red bird's eye chilies
  • 10 curly red chilies
  • A small amount of fried shrimp paste
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Salt

Preparation

  1. Wash the guavas thoroughly, cut them to your desired size, rinse again, and drain.

  2. Pound the chilies, shrimp paste, salt, and sugar together.

  3. Boil the pounded mixture with 1/4 cup of water until it comes to a boil.

  4. Allow the mixture to cool down.

  5. Combine the cooled chili mixture with the cut guava pieces.

  6. Refrigerate to enhance the flavor.

Tips

  1. Boiling the sauce first helps it last longer, especially if you have a large batch of guavas that won't be consumed immediately.
