Vegan Tofu Katsu Onigirazu
Ingredients
- 3 cups uncooked Japanese rice
- 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons sea salt
- Nori sheets
- Breaded hot and spicy vegan tofu fillets
- Carrot
- Lettuce
- Sesame seeds
- Homemade teriyaki sauce
Preparation
Rice
Wash the Japanese rice 2-3 times with water.
Cook the rice in a rice cooker with an equal amount of water.
While the rice is cooking, mix rice wine vinegar, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
Once the rice is cooked, add it to the vinegar mixture and mix well.
Cover the rice with a damp towel and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Assembly
Wrap the seasoned rice in nori sheets.
Fill with breaded tofu katsu, carrot ribbons, and lettuce.
Finish with sesame seeds and homemade teriyaki sauce.
