Simple Bbq Tofu with Gochujang Sauce Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2/3 package extra firm organic tofu, drained and pressed well to remove water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1.5 cups steamed broccoli florets cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup edamame
  • 1 cup cooked noodles
  • Cilantro, sauteed mushrooms, sesame seeds, scallions, red chili flakes (for garnish)

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp gochujang sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1.5 tbsp agave or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce

Preparation

  1. Cut tofu into thin pieces

  2. Add oil to a large pan and arrange tofu in a single layer without overlapping, working in batches if necessary

  3. Cook until lightly browned (about 5 minutes depending on thickness), then flip and cook for another 3 minutes

  4. Meanwhile, whisk together sauce ingredients in a bowl

  5. When tofu is cooked, add sauce and toss to coat

  6. Serve with steamed broccoli, edamame, cooked noodles, and garnish with cilantro, sauteed mushrooms, sesame seeds, scallions, and red chili flakes

Tips

  1. The sauce permeates the tofu and gets a bit caramelized for extra flavor

  2. Gochujang sauce can be found online or in most grocery stores
