Flaky and Crisp Vegan Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or wheat)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup oat milk
  • 6 tablespoons cold Earth Balance butter

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

  2. Mix dry ingredients well

  3. Cut butter into thin slices and toss in the dry ingredients

  4. Pour in milk and stir until just combined

  5. Sprinkle a little flour on your work surface

  6. Turn the dough onto the surface and use your hands to gently press into a mound

  7. Sprinkle the top with flour

  8. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick

  9. Fold the top over to divide the dough into thirds, then fold the bottom over

  10. Fold the sides to create thirds

  11. Sprinkle a little flour on and roll out again

  12. Repeat the folds like a letter

  13. Roll out a third time and fold again

  14. Roll out to 1 inch thick

  15. Rub some oat milk on top and cut into biscuits

  16. Place biscuits on the baking sheet

  17. Bake for 15-17 minutes until the tops are golden brown

  18. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving
