Flaky and Crisp Vegan Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or wheat)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup oat milk
- 6 tablespoons cold Earth Balance butter
Preparation
Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Mix dry ingredients well
Cut butter into thin slices and toss in the dry ingredients
Pour in milk and stir until just combined
Sprinkle a little flour on your work surface
Turn the dough onto the surface and use your hands to gently press into a mound
Sprinkle the top with flour
Roll out to 1/2 inch thick
Fold the top over to divide the dough into thirds, then fold the bottom over
Fold the sides to create thirds
Sprinkle a little flour on and roll out again
Repeat the folds like a letter
Roll out a third time and fold again
Roll out to 1 inch thick
Rub some oat milk on top and cut into biscuits
Place biscuits on the baking sheet
Bake for 15-17 minutes until the tops are golden brown
Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving
