Easy Creamy Potato Gratin

Ingredients

Potatoes

  • 960 ml thinly sliced potatoes

Cheese sauce

  • 42 g butter
  • 42 g flour
  • 360 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 112 g grated cheddar cheese

Topping

  • 56 g grated cheese
  • 56 g sliced green onions

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Make the cheese sauce by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in flour to form a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring until thickened, then add salt, cayenne pepper, and cheddar cheese, stirring until cheese melts.

  4. Layer the thinly sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, pouring the cheese sauce evenly over the layers.

  5. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

  6. Sprinkle the topping of grated cheese and sliced green onions over the gratin and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
