Easy Creamy Potato Gratin
Ingredients
Potatoes
- 960 ml thinly sliced potatoes
Cheese sauce
- 42 g butter
- 42 g flour
- 360 ml milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 112 g grated cheddar cheese
Topping
- 56 g grated cheese
- 56 g sliced green onions
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Make the cheese sauce by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in flour to form a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in milk, stirring until thickened, then add salt, cayenne pepper, and cheddar cheese, stirring until cheese melts.
Layer the thinly sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, pouring the cheese sauce evenly over the layers.
Bake for 45-60 minutes or until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Sprinkle the topping of grated cheese and sliced green onions over the gratin and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
