Vegan Caramelized Apple Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 pastry sheet
  • 5 small apples
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp vegan butter
  • juice of 1/2 lemon

Preparation

  1. Melt butter in a pan, add apple slices, toss until well coated.

  2. Add sugar and lemon juice, mix until sugar dissolves completely.

  3. Transfer slices without the sugar mixture into a bowl and toss with cinnamon. Set aside.

  4. Shape your pastry sheets so it can hold up the slices nicely.

  5. Preheat oven to 400F, layer slices and top with 2 tbsp brown sugar.

  6. Bake until pastry sheet turns brown, about 8-10 minutes. Broil for another 2-3 minutes to get a brownish side.

  7. Remove from oven, spoon some leftover sauce over, top with lemon zest and more cinnamon before serving.

  8. Note: This dessert is not overly sweet and best paired with a cup of latte.
