Upside-Down Apple Pastries with Maple and Cinnamon

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 2 apples
  • 6 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • Dairy free milk
  • Icing sugar

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C and line two baking trays with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 6 squares. Set aside.

  3. Slice the apples into thin halves. Set aside.

  4. Combine the cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl.

  5. Add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup to the parchment paper.

  6. Lay four pieces of apple on top of the maple syrup.

  7. Sprinkle a little bit of the cinnamon sugar on top of the apple.

  8. Lay one square of puff pastry on top of the apple.

  9. Brush the pastry with a little bit of milk and sprinkle some more cinnamon sugar on top.

  10. Repeat the assembly steps until you have used all of the ingredients, spacing out the pastries as they will grow in the oven. You should fit 4 pastries on one tray and 2 on the other.

  11. Place the baking trays in the oven for 20 minutes.

  12. Flip the pastries over and sprinkle each one with some icing sugar before serving.
